As a young freelance bassist, Joe Hincke has been turning heads in the Ottawa music scene with his musicality and versatility, his passion for playing, and his subtle lines that support and enhance the music.
Joe has proven himself to have the ability to blend into most musical situations and has had great success in playing a wide variety of styles with many different artists. Joe currently applies his skills to the award-winning latin-fusion stylings of Alicia Borisonik and the Argentinian Project, playing everything from tango, samba, and baguala, to rock, funk, and jazz. Joe also supplies his solid foundation to a variety of local artists.
Through his involvement in the Carleton University music program, Joe has lent his solid playing to the Carleton University Fusion Ensemble's concert showcases, led by the renowned guitarist Wayne Eagles. Joe has also lent his musical versatility to the Carleton University Choir - even accompanying the choir's 2004 tour of France and Normandy and their 2005 production, "African Sanctus".
Joe is equally at home in the studio, laying down his smooth lines with confidence and ease. Recently, Joe supplied the bass tracks for the self-titled 2008 release from local indie-rock artist Joshua Morin, whose music can be heard on Ottawa radio stations like The Bear and Live 88.5.
Along with providing backing bass live and in the studio for various local artists, Joe practices hard to contintue to develop his skills as a bassist. He also composes and arranges his own music in styles ranging from orchestral symphonies to fusion and jazz tunes. Joe maintains a small roster of private students and instructs them in the areas of jazz theory, improvisation and ear training.
Joe is a proud endorser of FireWire Strings.
